1

Engrave and Carve

15 minutes

I used a V-bit for this project to get all the little details of the artwork.

First, engrave the lettering, and then click over to the next workpiece and carve out the outline.

2

Sanding Sealer

5 minutes

I want to paint the words black after I carved. I found one if the easiest ways to do that is to paint the plain mdf board with a Sanding Sealer right after you carve the board.

Brush on the sealer all over the board, making sure to get in all details in the carving. Let dry for at least an hour.

3

Paint the letters

5 minutes

Once the sealer is dry, use acrylic based paint and fill in the letters. It is ok to be sloppy! You can get the paint on the surface because we will sand it off later, the sanding sealer will prevent the paint from seeping into the material.

4

Sand

5 minutes

Use a palm sander to sand the surface of the sign. This will both remove any paint that is on the surface of the sign and give the MDF a smooth finish.
